Happy News in and around Cardiff by Leonie Baur

It’s time to spread some happy news in and around Cardiff again!

If you always wanted to grow your own food at home, you should definitely get involved in the Sustainable Food City project. Volunteers have teamed up to provide plants and seeds and to support households, care homes and foodbanks in growing them. You can share your plants online using the hashtag #GoodFoodCardiff and #CardiffGrowingTogether. This great community project contributes to a more sustainable future.

Some restrictions have been eased in the past weeks, so you can pop into your local coffee shops, bakeries and sustainable food shops again! The perfect opportunity to grab an iced coffee and enjoy the sun in the park (make sure to still socially distance!). You favourite local businesses will definitely be happy to see you again.

Did you read through most of your books at home already and miss going to the library? There are various phone box libraries in Cardiff where you can drop off and collect books. This is a great way of sharing books with other people in your community.

Make sure to follow @cardiffindiecollective on Instagram to get to know Cardiff’s great independent businesses. You can find a variety of businesses from food to homeware, artwork, wellbeing and more. They have just launched a Crowdfunder to build the Cardiff Indie Collective website so you can easily shop locally, ethically and sustainably.

Something to look forward to next week: apparently the sun is coming back to Cardiff, so I hope you can enjoy it as much as possible!
